National Security

How do you view National Security? Do you see them as Jedi or Sith? If Jedi why? If Sith why? Neither? If neither why?

The function of National Security. The CIA? FBI? Military Intelligence? And or The Foreign equivalents, like MI6, Interpol and so forth. And in general as well.

This is quiet an unusual question.

Here in the UK things are done differently to our US cousins. I would say that the secret services of any country uses a mixture of dark and light side methods.

When I say legal I dont mean that all laws fall within the side of light. Some laws have dark conotations. So please bare with the below usage of the term legal.

For example they will have teams of surveilance operatives who abide within the laws of the host country. They basically use covert light side methods. Then you have interpreters, code breakers, lawyers etc, who would all use legal methods available to justify their actions.

Then on the rare occaisions you get the kill team specialists. A good example recently occured when an Israeli 'Mossad' kill team illegally cloned foreign passports (at least 6 were UK passports) so that they could infiltrate the city state of Dubai to assassinate a top Hamas Palestinian leader. Obviously these methods would be classed a dark side methods.

No country or nation is exempt from using the above methods at least at some point in their history.

So you can appreciate that having a good understanding of light side methods is very advantageous for dark siders. It keeps you in control even when you are restricted by laws etc.

So to answer your question I think that most countries use light side covert techniques most of the time and dark side covert techniques on special occaisions.

I just thought I would ask people on this board to get them to think about how important it is to balance the light and dark side equally with a cool head. National Security is most known for it's rationality. I hope others will join in as well.
