J. Edgar Hoover

Even I am not old enough to remember him, but I did hear a bit about J. Edgar Hoover. He is in history books now. I just saw an old black and white movie which is now on DVD entitled "The House on 92nd Street." It came out in 1945 and is supposed to be a true story. I felt like I was watching a story more about the Empire of Star Wars than the U.S. To protect nuclear secrets, J. Edgar scooped up thousands he suspected as German spies and sympathizers. They literally filmed people going in and out of homes or bookstores that they even mildly suspected. The movie assumes the general public was supportive of such extreme measures. I think the U.S.A. of World War II was a lot like Darth Vader's Empire and that the thinking was similar. J. Edgar, had he been beamed over to the Star Wars galaxy, would have liked the Empire very much, particularly the spy and military side of it.

I dont wanna sound like a party crasher, but to my point of view, america always lived under fear of something.
The japanese, the germans, the comunists, the terrorists, the gangs, the rattlesnakes, killer bees from africa, ebola, anthrax, china.
Things havent changed that much over the last 60 years, and to be really honest i think you people just dont really realize how much "the empire" controls your life.
I making my bets that, just by writting "anthrax" this forum will be read by the nsa guys ---» (cheers nsa guys ! ).
Mr. Hoover was just the visible tip of the iceberg, just see the Rosenbergs....

Hey, its a really good oportunity for making new members.
I can imagine, all the guys there, all day looking at a pc, no girls, no life, always wanting to become darth vader, but the best they had was pens in the shirt pocket instead of lightsabers....

Although I agree the US has delusions of Empire historically, in the last few years the imperialistic volume been turned up so loud that it even is scaring the straights.lol I think the main difference is now Fuhrer Bush is doing the same thing J. Edgar Hoover did but on a massive scale & in the open. At least in the past the President & his cohorts had the common decency to at least try to be secretive about it.

Here in the US, fear is even in the water. My favorite one involves the whole 9/11 power play. The guy has no comprehension of the Islamic world. The War on Terror BS is exactly what old Bin Laden was hoping for & Bush handed it to him on a silver platter-complete with American flags, tapped phone lines ,yellow ribbons & the "Patriot Act". :shock: Oh well.

They tend to forget that, despite the fact that arabs these days are not a particulary advanced society, they are a millenar society, with all the knowledge that comes along with it.
And Mr Bin Laden was a CIA good student in afganistan.
But i strongly believe that someday all of the masks will come down.
Or they should just accept the fact that they are acting like the Empire.

I do agree with that part yes, the current government there takes these issues too far.
Both bin laden and saddam were CIA Agents at one point. Does anyone else see it as suspicious that two former government agents could go so completely against the country they worked for? is there something they know the rest of us dont?

It is all hot air. Bush is sounding off pretending to be beefing up National Security when he is doing nothing. The Anarchy is hear to stay so I am adapting accordingly. Things really happened this weekend to insure that " Meet the new Boss same as the old boss " will remain. This includes the good, the bad and the ugly of it. On the positive side for the people thievery and exploitation will continue as always. On the down side is third world countries like Mexico, Which America is now numberd amoung, do not make world policy. If your country has something another country wants you can be invaded by a stronger healthyer nation. Survival of the fittest steps in. Is America sure she is more fit than the riseing Russia? Falling nations historically never beat up and riseing governments.

Not all rich folk are so cold. Helping people is the only reason I want to be. 1- I have always wanted to set up a self-sufficient, non-profit charity organization. 2-recently I have thought that if I ever become a Light Jedi Master and feel enlightened enough to do so I may want to set up an academy, a real one, but it is only a thought for now.
On the subject of unhelpful rich folk...Jesus said "it is easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than a rich man to go to heaven," what I mean by that is that a good/helpful rich man is rare at best.

On the J. Edgar Hoover thing...I saw a movie called Clue, it's a murder mystery comedy. It references J. Edgar Hoover because it is set in that time period. It isn't about him, but it's funny nontheless.

The woman (I say woman because that's what character he was in most of the time,) used the most powerful law enforcement agency in the United States to spy on promintate Americans, French and English (YES THAT'S RIGHT,) to satisfy his own filthy erotic impulses. Al Capone, Bugsy Seagal, Meyer Lansky, Dutch Schultz and the rest of the Murder Inc., crew (30 -40's gangsters,) ran organized crime with more credibility and organization than Hoover ran the FBI!

Hoover, McCarty and Cohn....filthy Americans!
