Why is it that, on the batlle of Yavin, almost every x-wing pilot is human ?
Im pretty shure that there would be aliens that would like to have a share of the fight against the empire....
I think its because most of the aliens heads woulndt fit inside the flight helmets...
Any insights on that ?

I noticed it but never really cared.
the base on yavin was nowhere near the rebelions full strength - there was not a single capital-class vessel there, only fighters, bombers, and transports (was it more of an outpost than a base?)

considering the Empire's known xenophobia, it is surprising though, i guess its simply something lucas never considered when he had the film made, for whatever reason

Its a valid point, but i still think its a helmet issue...:)

I think that they used custom helmets like the fish people because general ackbar's race actucally built the B-wing

While it is true that Akbar's species, Mon Calamari, designed ships, I think that humans manned the smaller ships because of experience. I go along with Darth Sidious' view of the Empire's xenophobia. Only humans would have had a great deal of experience with fighters, whereas larger ships have no xenophobic limitations. Of course, it could be as simple as film budget too.;)

Always the money issue.
Will we be able to live without that in a sith society ?

Darth Cassus

of course money wouldn't be a problem with the sith in charge

And why do you think like that ?

I do my best to keep a step ahead...
Maybe the sith can use sea shells...

I think that the battle of Yavin was a crucial part of the movie. (besides the money isssue. lol) I think that they used human pilots in order for us to better identify with their emotions of fear, anger, protectiveness, desperation, and drive. I find it hard to identify with other races cultures at times, is it not the same thing here?

No, we welcome all into the dark side.
To live unified under the flag of peacefullness.
Even young jedi´s.
