Go to the UserCP link on the top left of the page.
Click Edit options.
Scroll down to "Miscellaneous Options" (the bottom)
Change Message Editor Interface to Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing from the dropdown menu.
Problem solved :)
