Yes, I read it also. Mao Tse Tung's tactics were quite similar and were no doubt influenced by this author.
Im afraid Mao tse Tung tactics were almost entirely of guerrila warfare, and Sun Tsu talks about open warfare.
And there is another chinese general, contemporanial wit Sun tsu, who´s name i dont remember, that wtrote a even better book.

Von Claus's theories orginiated from such writings as the Art Of War. He is very famous for his "Nuclear War" insights.
I really dont know if Von Clau´s was familiar with sun tsu´s ideas, after all, for what i have read, they are quite diferent ideologies...

Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.

or theirs Joaquin Andujat
I win or I die.

I have also read The Art of War. He does descuss guerilla war. What do you think he means when Sun Tzu refers to getting your supplies from the enemy.
Every army does that !
The german army in WW2 was well known for stealing gasoline from the americans, and they werent a guerrilla, far from that.
Even the americans stole material from the germans, and they werent doing guerrila warfare also.
Guerrilla is a armed group of men that uses non ortodox methods of fighting, and gets almost interely its support from the population.
Of corse it has many more definitions, but, mainly, is that.

I think sun tzu is speaking of more conditional warfare not guerilla but sun tzu says to always gain an advantage if u want to win so if guerilla warfare helps gain the advantage then it should be uesd.
well, guerrilla warfare is a very...maleable definition, but yes, i supose that in love and war everything is usable.

What you need to remember about Sun Tzu's The Art of War is that the intent was to be a philosophical treatise on war, from what i remember of it, although last time i looked at a copy was several years ago, it tends not to go into specifics, its covers what from a philosophical P.O.V. he believed to be relevant
Yes, thats true, but, in the end, 95% of all chinese writting is philosofical.
He gives some insights on how one should think when making war.
I admit it works on pc games...

In relation to Sun Tzu & Mao Tse-Tung I dont see that much correlation. Maybe its just me. But I do agree that Sun Tzu's Art of War is both a military and philosophical treatise whereas Mao Tse-Tung's On Guerrilla Warfare is a very practical book with not a great deal of traditional Chinese philosophy to be found in its pages.

At last someone that thinks kinda like me.
I still think that Mao, despite having a largely practical based ideas, he sometimes gets lost in philosofics.

Lao Tzu + I Ching = Tao Te Ching
Tao Te Ching + Sun Tzu= Art of war
