Some on this board have a good grasp on technology. Can anyone come up with a machanical device that uses the Force in a technihological way to fight? I thought I would give the Tech people a chance to shine. How to make something like the lazer for example, where it can be used for the muggle to fight with technology. All you practitioners do not feel insulted because I was just litting the tech people have their day. You smart inventive people I look forward to your answers.

many of the green lasers have the power to fry cameras, eyes, light fires, and do other damage by remote control. I believe I even saw a 1 watt green laser on ebay. a weapon like that could definately do some damage.

Thank you Darth Devious. I was also hopeing people would actually come up with their own ideas and inventions. But you can add that which was already invented.

You saw a 1watt green laser on ebay ??
what will they sell next ? enriched uranium isotopes ?

Actually, I saw a site that sells green lazers, expensive though.

well, I wanted to post the link, but it is gone...
it did not look like a traditional laser pointer. It was basically a rectangular metal box covered with radiators (aka heat sinks/cooling fins) to keep it cool.

Mrs Darth VAder.
I revisited this thread and saw your origional question.
The problem really is that technologically speaking, western society, or any current human society, is not really that advanced. We are only 2 or 3 large steps above the stone age.
What has happened is that we keep evolving old technologies instead of coming up with new ones. The reason for this is because it is extremely difficult to come up with something new.
as an example, consider firearms.
somebody discovered that if you mix charcoal, saltpeter and sulfur together, you can get an explosion, THEN...
a while later, somebody figured out how to contain this explosion and the cannon was born, THEN...
somebody figured out how to use flints, instead of a fuse, THEN...
the flints were replaced with percussion caps.
the invention of the percussion caps make revolvers possible. THEN...
somebody figured out that if you encased the percussion cap, powder, and bullet in a metal cartridge, the firearm became more reliable THEN....
the invention of the cartridge made automatic, semiautomatics and machine guns possible.
the same kind of progression takes place with any major kind of technology, including aircraft, cars, knives, etc.
It is infinately easier to evolve a technology, then invent something completely new. but once upon a time, somebody discovered the origional black powder mixture. That was the cusp, the crossroads.
what we need now, to progress, is a whole new branch of scientific knowledge. right now, mankind is in a technological rut.
and religion wont help, as it destroys real progress.

Funny you should bring this up because it is the very thing I have been looking into lately. I have been doing a lot of reading on Nikola Tesla. He was 100 years ahead of his time, and due to that fact met up with a lot of resistance. He had invented a whole new kind of power. They resisted it because the big money folks did not want to replace their existing machines. They only wanted mild improvements just to stay one step ahead of their competitors. Nikola invented the basis for most modern gadgets, many of which are barely coming out now (and many have not yet come out). His heyday was the turn of the last century. He quarreled with Edison who was a stick in the mud.
There is one fellow who is following in his footsteps, and he lives in Canada. He gets some of the same flak Tesla did. He is of interest to Force users because he believes in an energy field that surrounds us just like the Jedi/Sith do. He has actually tapped into this field for real and is defying gravity and doing things much like the Star Wars films. Yes, he uses devices, but he is just one step away from Force powers as dramatic as the movie and is living proof that such is real and possible.
To see what I mean, take a look at his Myspace where he has mini-movies of the sorts of things he can do. Enjoy!

John Hutchinson's page has too much stuff on it making it hard to find the most relevant. I will try here to post individual film clips of the stuff that would really interest Force users.

Well, Empress, I gotta don my old scientists cloak for a minute here. I did study hard science for 5 years in college...
Everything seems impressive. Especially the levitation. However, what bothers me is that my - albiet brief - searches for published papers on his work have come up dry.
One of the fundimental principles of science is that you publish your findings. This enables somebody else to duplicate your research, and provide critizism.
I went to amazon.com, and found no books on his work. I was able to find videos, but videos don't really help me here. I wanted to see papers, that is, equations, diagrams, and other stuff that makes most people's brains turn off.
In short, magnificient claims, nothing to back it up.

Understandable. Actually, he is communicating on Myspace. If you have a Myspace, you could actually ask him himself and see what he says. It is a legitimate question.

huh. his myspace page crashes my web browser, firefox 2.0.0.11
so much for that...

Too bad....Darn. Hutchinson did say something about trouble with his site yesterday. Myspace has its bad days sometimes. Did you try another browser? Anyway good luck. He does have a lot of videos on his site and that can cause your computer to choke on it. Some people overload their pages I think.

My experience is that the scientific community tends to be too political for its own good, however, I have learn that EVENTUALLY they will adopt ideas if they are shown to be valid.
Have Faith. If his work is genuine, he will eventually be acknowledged. If he is a fraud, he will be exposed.
Its just he might only be acknowledged after he is DEAD.

Thank you for the history of the gun. You are right it is hard to invent because the forces that want us to stay in the stone age have the larger numbers and work tirelessly into the night to keep their mind control over us. Organized religion, the opiet of the people and the arm of the oppressor has already turned America from a first world country to a third world country. You are right as to inventors are finnally given credit long after they are dead. And they wonder why most people do not bother trying to be an inventor. Why be one of those only to get spit on while you live then everyone gladly uses your ideas when you are dead. I am currently reading all I can about physics and Tesla hopeing to find the key that has eluded us thus far. If I succeed everyone will know by seeing the results. My enemies will be choked useing the laws of physics.

Inventors are so under appreciated. The real loser is the society who could have benefited.
