Merry Sithmas and a happy New Order! How was yours? We stuffed our faces with huge dungeonesse crabs (a lucky find which is usually only gotten at restaurants but the Sam's Club was selling them for the holidays). We watched a Christmassy movie and exchanged gifts.
Tonight the guy in the red suit makes his rounds...but what if he has a double-bladed lightsaber and ten horns? Uh oh.......

Merry Sithmas and a happy new year. Empress Palpatine already explained what we did. How was everyone else's holidays?
You celebrate christmas? Yes I know not in the "christian" way yet I'm still a little surprised.

You can not egnor christmas when you live with mother.
The date the christians choose to celibrate christmass coraspond to yule I've always found it interesting that they chose to celibrate the the comming of the Son at the same time as everybody else was celibrating the return of the Son. Is this just coincidence or are those two words similar in other languages as well?

Just curious if you did not live with your mother would you still celebrate it?

My mother is also a big Christmas person. She is also the only Christian in the family. All the rest of us are sith, atheist, Hindu, or combination there of (my young nephews favor the dark side, yesss!)
Unfortunately, this meant all nine of us had to endure the annual stress-out called Christmas.
As to the coincidence of the date of Christmas: there are many theories most of which have to do with it being the darkest time of the year/pagan celebrations of hope for light and Jesus being "light of the world". My favorite is that Dec 25th is Apollo's birthday and he was Constantine's mother's favorite god.
that seems yet another sun referance. So at the time I'm geussing the language was latin any body know the laatin words for sun and son I'm still wondering if the word play is a oincidence or if it was as such in latin too.

I can not answer the question as to will I celabrate christmas if not with mother because there is a lot of ifs, ands, and buts. If we were with people who celebrate it than we would. If we were with people who do not celebrate it than we would not. If we are in the woods and not even a part of society what so ever we would not celebrate christmas.
I can not answer the latin word question because I do not speak Latin. I do know that the catholic church porposly picked the pagan holidays of Yule and other names given the same dates of around christmas season, to incooperate them into the catholic church. The catholics out lawed the others to force the pagans to be catholics. The other religions were absorbed into the catholic church.
I've looked it up and for latin simiarities of phonics this is what my search got.
filius : son.
Phoebus : sun.
I'm not sur about the pronounciation exactly in latin but these apear to be at least similar in sound.

Actually, Phoebus (fee behs) is the Latin version of the Greek name for Apollo, not to be confused Phobos (fO bOs) the god of fear and name of a Martian moon.
The Latin of sun is sol
son is filius, which is pronunced "fee lee us".
Before you ask about Greek, sun= helios, son=gios
It appears that the only phonetic similarity is in English, and two words that sound the same may have completely different meaning. Raise= to build up; raze= to tear down
thankyou I just pulled those out of an online translator which aperantly had a few hole in it altho I can see how some would refer to the sun and appolo interchangabley.

My pleasure. Sorry to say these coincidences are not. They were fabricted by the Church to aid in conversion. Even today, Scandinavian languages use Jul references in Christmas words.
Every northern hemisphere culture has some sort of winter celebration. Depending on how far north one is, these celebrations involve light (or lack there of), thanksgiving for the harvest, or both. The Church took over these celebrations by assigning Christain significance to the various symbols of the celebration.
I know a lot about the Church and a little Latin. Look up "Council of Nicea" if you want to know more about the creation of Christianity.

How Sithy is new years so far. Very. So far I have been made angry more since the new year began. I already got to practice the Vader choke over 15 times at least, last count. WWIII is just around the corner. Now our Pentagon big brass is adding Syria, Iran and Lebenon to the list of people to fight. The "leak" is we have 93,000 troops there now. The 20,000 fight is for show. And Bush admits that Nukes are not off the table. Sounds like America is asspiring to be the Death Star to me. Looks like both the "Nimby" picture and the big picture are off to a Sithy start.

Sorry I did not respond for a while, I have a hectic offline life. I’d have to say who doesn’t complain about America?
