My computer has Microsoft Works. It is simular to Words. I prefer pen and ink myself or pencil. With pencil you can just erase it. I am old so I have more trouble with computer than direct writeing on papper.

OpenOffice is not just for Linux anymore! It is available for Windows and Mac. It works very much like MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). You can open and save as those types of MS files. I think it is better because:

a) it's free
b) you are not a slave to that other evil empire
c) you can save out as .pdf. Try doing that in MS Word.

I want to download Microsoft Word (or anything at this point that is the same as it) my only problem is my Dad won't let me download anything on to the computer. I've been bothering him though for a while now telling him to download it. He said he would but he hasn't yet.:( So until he does I'll probably just keep writing notes and idea's for Darth Revan in my email.

Darth Priceless Maybe you should consider getting used to pencil and papper or pen and ink so your dad can not stop your creative juices by denying you computer access. I am sure writeing by hand will seem annoying at first but if you practice you will be rewarded because if there were no electrical power for months pen and ink will still work. You can even write with pencil in candle light. Please do not feel insulted by such archaic device because if you can switch interchangeably it will give you more power and control. You have a better chance than I because understanding pen and ink is easier than learning a technical device such as computer when you are used to pen and ink.

Darth Priceless, why dont you go to: www.download.com , and find some nice, and free text editor?
Most of them, like star word, are compatible with microsoft ( all haill the great sith lord Bill Gates and his death star - Windos OS ) and its fully free.

Azzazel, I got a good laugh out of that post:haha: Bill Gates the Sith Lord real funny. Good idea though. I stil think versitility is the best approach. More power in it.

Are you saying your dad's computer has no word processor? Don't all computers have some sort of word processor? (I never met one that didn't.) By any chance, does your dad have the Adobe Creative Suite? (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, etc.) or perhaps Quark? There are so many programs that do words. Indesign does magazines.

What about school? Are there computers there? (Somehow English teachers love budding writers and sometimes offer extra credit).

Does your school offer computer graphics, etc. The high schoolers here have an option to take courses of all sorts of computer stuff.

No they do not.

Your operating system does not come (Unless you purchase a suite) with word, excel, email, ect.

What you will have is a standard NOTE PAD.

Hey, why do you think I have the Imperial March as the start-up music and the "Use the Force" bit from The Battle of Yavin as shut down music on my laptop with XP?

I also get strange looks when people see my Bikini Atoll backdrop. I think it's beautiful. Does that make me really dark or really light because I can see the beauty in something so destructive?

I see buety in something destructive. I have a purse with an explodeing NUKE on it with the city being consumed below. How is that for destruction?
