"In the Absense of Force powers, technological and psychological powers are a good substitute."

Let's say hypothetically you gain control and power over whatever... a country/a fortune 500 company/ etc....would you rather get the power through force powers or technological and psychological "powers"? Personally I think powers are a cop-out compared to the latter. Yes it takes practice/dedication/psy strength to control powers but can that really compare to doing it with smarts and using what's available (technology)?

I think you missed the point. I really do not believe in mystic powers. I am too much of a scientist for that.

What I was trying to say, is that a technological savvy person can do stuff that most of people, that is, retarded people, would consider to be magic.

I dont really know, but I suspect, that a lot of the witch burnings that took place in the middle ages didnt burn witches and wizards at all. Instead, I think they burned people who were curious about how things worked, and instead burned people who were develooping technologies that scared the other people.

When I talk about harnessing the energies of your environment, it has nothing to do with meditation, or psychic mumbo jumbo. I am talking about using things like solar panels, and windmills, to power other devices, such as scanners. The scanners can then be used to maintain surviallance over the other people in the neightborhood, without the electric company or the landlord making money off your consumption. I am talking about building a wifi dish antenna so that I can connect to an unprotected wifi access point several miles away.

But I dont subscribe to the religious aspect of it. It does nothing to increase my power.

Err, dont wanna bug inside the conversation, but the majority of the people burned durin the inquisition were jews, gossip women, and the ladies that helped to give birth to the babies. And cat howners.
actualy, you could get burned only by sneezing 3 times, or by going too much to the church ( it was the same to say that you had many sins).
Left-handed peopledidnt had theire life easy also.
The witch thinguie, was more of a scapegoat than the true targets ( the jews/new christians).
Unless your speaking about the "witch" burnings there in the USA...

Post 500....ehehehe

Well, then Thanks Azazel. I stand corrected.

I still think that those who think they can manipulate energies with crystals and trances are bogus.

It has been my experience, though, that people who can do stuff are often treated with fear and distrust by people who cant.

Notice that I left the second part out? The question wasn't a reflection on your thought or beliefs it was a general question posed to the members here. If there we're fictional force powers would people rather use them then the latter provided you could only use (specialize) in one. I just used your quote as a buffer so don't think anything of it personally.

If i had to choose between the two, i would choose the "force" without a second tought.
technologie is very nice and good, but, contrarie with the "force", it need batteries to operate, its not water proof, and it doesnt have software errors, and its not breakable.

You made a good question here SonnyBlack, but you should make your question a bit more clearer...Because it really sounded like a critic at first.

Are Sith not allowed to be critical? ;) Your point is taken however I at that time i didn't have the time to go into it. For future reference if I'am talking directly toward someone they will know about it! True Azazel but the body is vunerable to things technology isn't. Remember also it says the absence of force powers (in everyday society not fantasy) and I said you already have the power. Personally I would have rather gained power through simple cunning and technology than using powers. I think it would be more difficult to do though I certianly see the appeal of being able to use the force and having that "flash".

Of course sith are alowed to criticism, its perfectly normal.
The body is vulnerable to things technologi isnt...such as ?
It obvious that for us, the only way to get power is trough technologie and brains, that was never a true issue, i guess, but some of uf believe that there is more in life than just microchips and electric impulses manipulated by switches.
The human bodies is, and thats not mambo jambo, a natural generator of energie, the electrical beeing the most commun, and others that are starting to be studied now.
If we, in a far future, manage to control those energies in a counsciously manner,
the "powers of the force" wouldnt be that far to acehieve - this is my beliefe.
The problem of technologie is that, and we all know it very well, has many flaws, and usualy fails to work in the most important moments.

Yes it was a joke...The body must eat the body must sleep the body the body can get viruses that cannot be countered etc. Yes it is obvious that the only way in reality if through technology and brains but your missing the point of the question and what I was asking. It was a very simple "if you" "what would you" and why? IF YOU could gain power in the everyday world by regular methods or by access to force abilities WHAT WOULD YOU rather use and WHY? And I agree with your statements on the body and humans in the future be able to tap into greater power. Now that I think of it your point reenforces mine. Technology can shut down and can be mainpulated and can be used against the person making it more unreliable if not properly weilded. Remember I said that you already have the power and I personally choose the latter b/c I think it would be harder to do.

Looks like im missundertanding all of the post im replying...
But i think i answered that i would use the force abilityes because technologie is faulty.
Or have i not...?
