How would you describe the Force? Is the Force "God" or something different? What to you does it mean to be on the dark side of the Force?

I honestly wouldn't know, I've never experienced anything that I would be able to call the Force, but it's an interesting idea. I doubt it's a god or anything similar. The movies describe it best as a life force that is a part of everything. I think darkside would be using the force with evil intentions.

The Force is the summation of all that has, does and will exist in this universe and in all possible universes. It incorporates all religions, philosophies, sciences, deities and life-forms within itself. I actually do not believe in sides to the Force. So both Light Side & Dark Side are equally meaningless in my own viewpoint.

Wise counsel Lord Shadim... except for the equally meaningless part, Light Side means a whole heck of a lot! :)

As well as the dark... Perhaps there are no sides to the Force, but there are Light and Dark people, no?
the force, its sides and dualities are among the biggest dogmas and unanswered questions ever.
I guess we all are here to find out in the end.

First, I would like to say that after several weeks of hardcore training for a big fight, I am back. Interesting post here. Determining what the Force is is one of those questions there can never really be an answer for. The Force is whatever you make for yourself. Feeling the peace of the "Light" or the power of the "Dark" is what determines the meaning.

Some may call the Force God, but considering that all major religions believe God created life and the Force is created by life, this would suggest not. I personally do not believe in a creator God. Life is the result of a series of chemical and physical reactions, energy. Life energy creates the Force.
Through the Force one gains power: knowledge, strength, and control. The dark and light sides are merely paths to the Force. Each uses the Force in different ways. It should be up to the individual devotee to choose which path to follow. Do not mistake the path for the destination.
As one journeys the chosen path, one begins to experience the Force. The weak minded get caught up in those initial experiences and are easily distracted by them. They stray from the path and get lost in the darkness or blinding light. They see what they want to see and this become their reality.

In the fiction it did not only state that the force comes from life but also that life could not exist whithout it. This shows a pardox that is familar in the concept of a creator god. Poeple will argue the logic that the universe is proof of a god becouse something had to make it all,but if that is sound logic then if a god exists something had to create it and the patern goes on to infinity. I tend to dismiss paradoxes so i look for a perspective that would see something that way. I figure that the force is the base energy at the root of every construct in the multiverse. Living creatures being in a constant state of decay shed energy and so apear to be giveing off the force of which they are made. With a little artistic licence this therory could be described in the way they explained the force in the movies.
