no my anger did not grow. I have learnt many years ago that other people opinions are just that their opinion. They don't effect me.

Wow! Where to begin since the topic changed so much since the beginning. I believe in useing both dark side and light side in balance. To me Palpatine in the opera sceen stated it best about how a Sith uses both. I am a serious practitioner of the Force through the path of the Shaman. I am also a Star Wars fan and I see no conflict between my religion and my fandom. I think religion should be fun or you sease to feel the Force and get into that ,Sit,Stand and kneel rubbish.
Love, that is surely my faverate emotion. I love my husband Darth Vader. As Anakin he brought me to the Sith. On the real life side, I unfortunatly do not have a significant other due to the 21 year war I have had to fight. This is where real life and Star Wars are opposites. If one is to buisy fighting love does not have a chance.

I chose the Sith due to the times I live. The Sith admit that the world today is a tough and harsh. The Jedi pretend the world is nicer than it is. I prefer the honesty of the Sith. If it is the time of Shiva than say it. For those of you that are christain the time of Shiva is the Hindu/ Bhudist equvelant of The Great Tribulation. As in the movie " A Thief In the Night" there is clearly an in group in society and the out group. those that are currently in power lord it over those that are not. The Sith offer Justice to get revenge on this current anacho-tyrany regime. I hope this adds to your knowlege of the Sith.
I also have my own Star Wars web site where I explain my political and my religious views useing the movie symbolism. My web address is;
http://users.arczip.com/redtailedhawk
So take a look if you want a therough trip into the world of the Sith.

The darkside is a much wider view of the dark side. The jedi look at the force in a narrow minded way which blinds them. Remeber that the dark is every where it even surrounds the brightest star. And both the jedi and sith are on a quest for greater power.

Darth Cassus,
You said, "And both the jedi and sith are on a quest for greater power." I agree, but will add a distinction between the two. From my understanding of the sith, they want personal power. Jedi want the power to help others and make the world a better place.

I think both sides want to better the world, but in two distinctly different ways. The dark side wishes to cause evolution and betterment through conflict. Conflict forces us to get better at the things we do, wars are the best time for technological advancement. The light side wishes to bring order to the world. This order will bring peace and prosperity to the world.

Do you think my assumptions here are wrong?

Gothic Angel - There are many reasons why certain people choose the dark side and why others choose the light. There are benefits to both, depending on the the person. I choose the dark side because it amplifies certain emotions and I draw power from that. I found it interesting that you said negative emotions can affect health. I have heard of that, but in my case, I actually feel stronger and I haven't been sick in many, many years. I also find that by drawing on certain emotions, I can accomplish things not possible before. I do not allow my emotions to control me, they obey my commands. Even if I do get angry, no one can see it on my face.
Diana - I agree with your last post, to an extent. Sith, in my view, do not need conflict. The world for Sith would be free of weakness and those who could not overcome an obstacle. Many times this leads to conflict, but it is not needed.

diana, you are drawing too many of your perceptions from Babylon 5. You are comparing Jedi and Sith to Vorlons and Shadows. You are mistaken in my opinion.

To stick with the B5 model, I see Jedi and Sith as more like the technomages, except you have two sides, with different emphases.

And I mean no disrespect to B5. Best tv series to grace the tube. Much better then trek or the new battlestar galactica series, which is currently the best in my book. JMS rocks.

People always put themselves in the equasion somehow, even saints. Many help others in order to be admired and acknowledged by their peers. It is human to want recognition. One way to get it is to be the hero, the problem solver. The Jedi and Sith strangely merge.

I would bet that if you took a Jedi and a Sith and threw them in cages next to each other, they'd start to talk. If they asked each other why they chose to do what they do, it would turn out that many motives are similar. It would be their methods which may differ some.

Both have egos. To be totally egoless is a near impossible state to achieve for a human being. To have no ego, you have to somehow let yourself not exist. It is a state of mind that would be really weird, and it would be likely that one who has no ego at all could not do what they have to do to survive on earth.

It is said that to return to the Force (final return) the ego has to be surrendered, but I do not think either Jedi or Sith are ready to do that yet.

Darth Devious,
I did not pull that idea from B5. Those are my ideas that I have had from way before the tv show came out. I was brought up to think for myself and not to judge (as much as I can at least;) ). Even at a really young age I was having philosophical discussions like this, though they are a tad more complex now. I can see though how you can draw similarities from what I said to B5. And I agree it was a good tv show.

I would point out that if I were to use the B5 example that I think the Vorlons would be a poor example to put against the Jedi (as would the Shadows for the Sith). Neither in my mind are better than another. I think they are both totally egotistical and arrogant. Neither, Vorlon or Shadows, are like us Force users because neither of us (Sith or Jedi, at least on this site) show much interest on forcing our beliefs on others. So far on this site I've noticed that the Sith here are able to agree to disagree. I mean if you didn't, then you would all be arguing because each of you have a different view. I find that commendable actually.

I have a hard time using literature and stories to use as examples because rarely do they fit what I am trying to say exactly. Some come close...but don't fit perfectly.

So devious...I guess you can say that I agree...B5 is a poor example to use for Jedi and Sith. Even though I didn't make that aguement earlier it is good you mentioned it. :p
