Greetings!

I was wondering if those here also had some religion besides following the teachings of the Sith. Are the ways of the Sith something totally separate from your religion or do you reconcile the two together where they complement one another? What might be your religion if you do practice something besides the Sith philosophy? Are you Christian, Pagan, Buddhist, Taoist, Satanist, Atheist/Agnostic, etc? I look forward to hearing about the religious and spiritual practices of my Sith brothers/sisters.

Athiest. And by the way, athiesism is not a religion. It is a religious vacuum.

Hmm...well I am a Thelemite, Setian, LHP magician, Pythagorean, Philosopher and Dervish. So I guess that would make me an evil, but quasi-confused, universalist. ROFL

p.s. Professionally speaking, Atheism is a religious belief. Since there is no proof of any god's non-existence, any statement must be a belief by definition.;)

I am religiously egglectic, sort of like a Freemason. I like my religion like my pizza...with everything on it! Except...hold the anchovies (anything dogmatic and intolerant, all that hellfire stuff).

Religiously I am ecclectic. I lean towards Shamanism because I like animals and preserveing nature. I also like Masonry. The Sith go well with my religion since Anakin is given Shaman abilities in Episode II. In the second Cartoon Anakin is the savior of an Indian tribe. There are many animal totems that fit Anakin, Darth Vader and Palpatine. Anakin/ Vader predominates in the totem world. Shiva is in charge of the natural earth cycles. Shiva is creator sustainer and destroyer. In Anakin form, Shiva is creator and sustainer. In Vader form Shiva is destroyer. Star Wars is a very important part of my religious belief system because i met My LOVER and HUSBAND Anakin/ Darth Vader( Shiva). This arch angel (god in Hindhu) actually used the form of Anakin/ Vader to introduce himself to me. The Force used the form of Palpatine. On the light side Jesus used the Qui-Gon Jinn form. Star Wars has multi religious symbolism and many religions are represented. Lucas himself said he got his material from a book called "Faces of God" by Joeseph Cambell. Since I met my faverate archangel (god) Anakin/ Vader through Star Wars, Star Wars will always be my faverate religious path, meaning the Sith.

I'm still looking for a philosophy that works for me. I come from a non-relgious background, so everything is new to me, but nothing is really appealing.

Darth Cassas sounds like you would be an agnostic. Agnostic means that you believe that there is something out there but it is not defined. An agnostic believes that there is more than just the phisical world but has all doors open and is vague as to who or what is it. Does that sound like what you meant, Darth Cassas? If not sorry, that is what I thought you meant. If so cool. Keep looking until you find your own answers. When it comes to religion or even the lack there of only you the individual can find your own path. No one can choose for you. That is why I hate organized religion because they inforce their doctrine on you and decide for you. Religion is the one place where anarchy belongs. Each man should get to choose for him self. Or as many on this board you can choose to believe in no God/ Force and be an athiest.

My father and I were both raised in a christian family, however neither of us really followed a religion. Now, I am a Sith and self proclaimed philosopher. This is my point of view though and I understand how and why an official religion can be incorporated, intertwined, with the ways of the sith.

Curious, what is that exactly? I heard the term "secular humanist." Is that the same?

Curious, what is that exactly? I heard the term "secular humanist." Is that the same? a doctrine, attitude, or way of life centered on the interests or values of humans; especially : a philosophy that usually rejects supernaturalism and stresses an individual's dignity, worth, and capacity for self-realization through reason.

secular humanist is basically the same stresses rejection of religion in society and the individual on the path to self realization.

So technically speaking I don't have a "religion" and I don't consider myself a "sith" although I have some of the same values.

I see religion as a side-effect of pure existence.

i choose to purely exist....

I believe that nearly everything that can be imagined does exist in one form or other. For example the so called gods. I believe these to be simply be powerfull spirits, as I have personal experience with those. However I do not believe them to have any real effect on our lives unless we choose to acknowledge them and actively reach out to them.

My own religious views are both polytheist and dualist. I believe that many 'Gods/Powers/Deities' exist, and that, just as with humans, some are aligned with the Light and some with the Dark.

I believe that most of the gods worshipped by humans are probably real, though in some cases humans are mistaken (or deceived) about some aspects of them.

I’m agnostic, I’m more or less an athiest but I’m undecided if there is nothing or something.

Reminds me of the Agnostic Prayer:

O God, if there is a God,
Save my soul, if I have a soul.

Bloody oath. Before a painting can be created, it must be imagined. At the same time, I have had thoughts, of invention and of creativity, I have not acted on them, i have not even spoken of them, and yet 6 months later, they appear, by anothers hands. Some say that everything that we imagine will oneday be created (look at sci-fi: planes, trains and automobiles were all dreamed of in sci fi books first). So what about gods and such concepts of the Force? If so many thousand minds are all emphatic in their belief of god, then he will/does exist. If 20,000 U.K minds, 40,000 new zealand minds and 70,000 australian minds all believe in the Force then through the Force we could kick gods arse!
lol

faith does have a power all its own. But I belive that is an inharent propertie of the force or what ever you call the magik you work. The balance comes from the thin line of haveing faith in your work whithout deluding yourself. As far as the religions I'm familiar whith they all have their truths but seem fundamentally flawed at some point in their dogma. I feel belife in the force seems to abandon most of the dogma and deal whith pure concepts that are easily looked at from a scientific point of veiw even if we haven't descoverd the rules guerning it yet.

Darth Spika, It sounds like you are talking about the power of the collective unconcious. This is indeed powerfull and the one who can successfully tap this power and use it can get far. It also sounds like you are refering to a phanomonone known as Hagalian Phisics. Meaning that when things are on the higher spiritual planes of existance they make there way down to the physical plane. People on other sides of the world can get this idea from the Force and act on it and an invention is invented at the same time accross the globe by people who never met.

The Force is stronger than the collective unconcious. This is proven by the fact that a single magician can over ride the mass with knowledge and use of the Force.

I am Roman Catholic, but extremely accepting of others religions and followings, accept baptists, so sorry if your baptist your probly a great sith but we woldn't get along. I have found that the ways of the sith that I follow are very easily compatible wit being Catholic, Jacen Solo really explained it well in Betrayal when he viewed the sith ways as correct if used without a personal agenda. I have to much passion, and am to quick to anger and jealousy to be anything close to a jedi. And the whole killing people works out fine when I declare war against them beforehand, also there are times that physical discipline, for others and oneself, to me is very important, and I don't know what I would do if I wasn't able to confide in someone my sins and have that wait lifted from my soul. I fight for a cause, The Force is the same as God to me. a unifiying power that gives life and flows through all of us. I consider myself to be a crusader in a sence as I fight for the Force to make everyone bend to the will of the Dark Side, no personal agenda, only strength thru the use of power.

I was brought up a Christian (Protestant Church of England). But use aspects of Taoism, Zen/Chan Buddhism, Mikkyo/Shingon Buddhism, Ninpo. I do not believe in gods, but believe in non sentient energy.

I use Taoism because it ultimately strives for immortality (but acheives longivity which is close enough) which I think can be a useful thing. Its energy practices are very sophisticated and I have bourne witness to extraordinary displays of this energy being used.

The Zen/Chan Buddhism appeals to my war like nature. It strives to focus the mind so that it can see through illusion to truth. I especially like its energy practices from the Shaolin Chan branches. Its Japanese Zen aspect has some very useful mind states that Samurai of old used to focus their minds and acheive specific mind state awarnesses.

Finally I use Mikkyo/Shingon Buddhist teachings that are more esoteric and open minded with regard to good, evil, and morality. In fact Ninpo the philosophy of Ninjutsu was heavily influenced by these two approaches. Ninpo is very practical philosophy/path and can still be applied for the modern era.

'The fools are the ones who look to the sky's for answers. Look within, the answer is always there'.
