First of all, good luck to you. Basketball to martial arts-why not? You should be in great shape if you play basketball. Let me guess, you are a tall person. You will be on the college team. In the U.S. being on a sports team brings you status. Sports can be a path to wealth and power. Go for it!

I was not fired from the shack. I left willingly when I landed my first (but ill fated) IT job.

you mean "All **** retail". Everybody on this board needs to understand something, and I cant stress it enough. RETAIL IS ALL ABOUT EXPLOITATION!!!! They exploit their employees, but most of all, they really, really rip off their customers. this does not only apply to electronics, but also to grocies, drugs, fuel, and all other consumerables!!!! I used to despise shoplifters. Today, I wonder if they have the right idea.

Most of us working class people make an honest living. However, the rich survive off all of our efforts, either directly (as employees) or indirectly (as consumers). they have no concept of an honest living, nor do they emphase much with the people who actually work. They see us as a resource, somebody to exploit!!! I used to oppose welfare programs, because they benefited the lazy. Today, I wonder if the welfare recipents have the best deal of all. The rich pay most of the taxes in america, which means that welfare people actually get to live off the rich. I see this as a good thing. Spread the wealth!!


Seriously folks. I learned a lot at the shack, dont get me wrong. A substantial amount of my knowledge about personal electronics, and ALL of my knowledge of scanners stems from this job. If fact at the end of my career at the shack, I had people coming from all over the state to purchase a scanner from me, as I was the "Scanner Man!".

Except that I now realize, that as far as cvs and the shack are concerned, I possessed the ultimate power. Now I realize what the deal is, I can go to a shack and immediately sense when the clerk is trying to take advantage of me, and shut him down. And frequently, I know more about the stock then he does, except for cell phones, they just plain suck.

I am now working on ways to avoid being exploited, like making my own electricity from the environment, or purchasing my computers second hand, or......

Ah..yours is a view I seldom hear, but how true indeed it is! This is what the system of capitalism is. When you work, you are only paid a fraction of the value you actually create. The owner keeps the rest. Multiply this by several employees, and you can see how this makes the owner rich. You are literally being robbed at the point of production. Most people do not realize this.

the problem empress, is that communism isnt really any better. In communism, everybody get paid the same, wether they are productive or not. So there is no real incentive to extend yourself, and grow to become something better.
