I favor the Hanwei Banshee sword,

but I think I would spray paint the blade flat black.

what is your choice for personal sith sword?

Found mine. I own one that looks very similar.

conceptually very nice, but I would be afraid to use a sword that inexpensive.

the one I own cost me well over $300. I couldn't find a better picture of one. I wouldn't use one that cost 30 bucks either, probably fall apart.

This is my sword. :) I have a slightly cheaper version (I haggled with a guy at a renaissance faire for it). Anyway, I like to use a twin pair of these, but my left arm isn't strong enough to be real effective since I broke it.

Do you have another picture? That link requires a user name to view.

I fixed it. I don't know why the link required a user name...it never did before. Weird. :)

I have a replika of Aragorn's sword in Lord of the Rings.

I also have a generic medieval sword that is somewhat smaller (more for my size). It is truly a real sword and not a prop.

I have a replica of the sword used by bill in the "kill bill 2 "movie, the one with the deamon head...
This weekend i will put my hands on my darth vader light saber.
I will post some pics of it if you whant to.

you guys make me feel left out :(

all i have at present is a swiss army knife

Azazel
04-26-2006, 11:24
you dont have a swiss army pocket knife ?

Darth Opacus
04-26-2006, 17:12
I lost my Swiss army knife several years ago. I carry a SWAT tactical knife. I love that knife, very sharp and useful. A thing of beauty.

Azazel

If i only could get my hands in one of those in my country...
So i stick to swiss army knife.

Exar Kun, be careful with that swat knife. the linerlocking mechanism is known to fail.

You might be better served if you purchased a better blade, something from cold steel, benchmade, or crkt. Your fingers are worth the extra money.

Darth Opacus

Thanks for that piece of information. That could prove useful in the future. I bought that knife 4 years ago, Smith and Wesson. Hopefully it won't chop my fingers off anytime soon.

try this experiment. can you shave the hairs off your arm, or hold a sheet of paper in the air from one of the corners. Place the knife edge against the edge of the paper. If you cant slice through the paper, your knife is not sharp enough for combat.

And Keep a lookout for the books I am going to submit.

I have a positive opinion of the following blades.

cold steel recon 1
cold steel night force
cold steel voyager x2 ( the voyager x2 is my "real life lightsaber!" )

CRKT M21 ( Columbia River Knife and Tool )

the Recon 1 has cold steels version of the axis lock. **VERY** strong lock. the CRKT m21 has a safety which prevents the blade from accidently closing, has a recurved blade for improved slashing power, and 4 hardpoints to attach the carry clip.

And of course, the voyager is a strong lockback knife with a VERY BIG BLADE.

In fact, If I thought we could agree on something, I would suggest that all the real life sith adopt the cs voyager x2 as our official sith blade. But I dont think we could agree on something that specific.

Fellow Sith, I propose a challenge to you all...
Of course that buying a blade is cool, but its not the perfect soluction.
How should the perfect Sith blade look like ?
I propose that we should make sketches of the blades, with any special features that they should have.
Its a very long shot, but maybe one day someone can produce them.

I sharpen my knives myself. My test to see if they are sharp is to try and shave the hair off my arms. You can always tell when it's time to sharpen the knives when my left arm has a spot of hair missing.
Interesting proposition, Azazel. Do you want to post the sketches?

Well, a sith blade would have to be strong first of all. It needs a strong lock, and a strong handle. The founder of cold steel, lynn thompson, always said that the bottom 2 inches of a blade are ineffective in combat. That is, the first 2 inches measured from your fist. So a 4 inch folder has only 2 inches of effective length. The cs voyager x2 has a 6 inch blade and a 7 inch handle. when I hold it in my hand, those 2 inches are occupied by handle. that means the voyager x2 has 6 inches of cutting surface. this knife can almost cut someone in half.

The knife needs to be something that can be opened quickly with one hand, preferebly with a combat wrist snap.

The knife needs to be made of good steel. This is one of my grips with smith and wesson knives. I like either high carbon steel, AUS 8 or AUS 6 steel. I also prefer my knives with coated steel, ie, black blades. In fact, if my knives aren't black, I have been known to spray paint them.

Another thing I like about the voyager x2 is that when open it is bigger then either my kabar or my cs tanto, but when closed, it is easy to carry and conceal.

The only thing wrong with the voyager is a lack of a hand guard. Both the cs recon 1 and the crkt m21 have small hand guards.

One thing I have frequently thought about is how to enhance the capability of a knife. I frequently have thought and ASP keychain defender can be epoxied to the handle of a knife, thus giving the knife the ability to shoot pepper spray. I havent done it yet, as I have not worked out how to activate the spray with the knife in my fist.

This may sound stupid, but I have often thought about making the voyager x2 handle look like a lightsaber handle. I havent worked out how to do that.

I just checked out cold steel at the knifecenter.com. Cs has a new knife out, which they are calling the AK47. here is the link.

http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=cs58lak

I like it. Aluminum handle for strengh, axis lock ( or ultra lock actually ) and an emerson "wave" feature on the blade for instant opening.

The only thing wrong with it is that it is only 4 inches long, and does not have a black blade.

I will post my drawing soon, just have to get inspired.

I'll be working on mine. I have several ideas to get down on paper.

Azazel

This is a sketch, made in autocad, from blade.
I have kinda well defined ideas in how should the blade be, and i tried to make it on the pc.
This is a pocket knife, a more grown up version is about to apear soon.

Darth Opacus

Very nice. How long is that particular blade?

Azazel
05-02-2006, 10:09
I was thinking it should be around 10 cm long, but im starting thinking its kinda big.

Darth Opacus
05-02-2006, 15:38
I agree, that might be a little big. How about 6 cm? It would be smaller and easier to conceal and would still be long enough to do some damage.

Azazel
05-02-2006, 18:14
I was thinking more to the 8cm long.
i just used the 10 cm to have a measure that can be easily divided, and with a good ratio for scaling, up or down.
