Initial Draft: Revision 1.0

Misdirection is the key to survival;
never attack what your enemy defends,
never behave as your enemy expects,
and never reveal your true strength.
If knowledge is power,
then to be unknown is to be unconquerable

Philosophy:
The dark side of the Force is innately tied to the distinctly negative ethical paradigm of the Sith. It is largely based on emotions and passion rather than peace and serenity which are preached by the light side of the Force. The dark side of the Force comes from the hate, anger, fear, aggression, vengeance, and malice in all living things. In the Star Wars movies, the practitioners of the dark side are Darth Sidious and his successive apprentices Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus, and Darth Vader.

The Jedi believe that emotions such as fear, uncertainty, doubt, anger, suffering, and attachment to the "inevitable" self-destruction, lead to the dark side. The Sith philosophy, on the other hand, is to use such emotions to fuel one's own will to power, ego, and selfishness. The inevitably destructive havoc caused by the actions of a dark side practitioner are excused as serving a greater purpose under this philosophy.

The negative emotions increase the strength and abilities of a dark side practitioner. As a result, the dark side of the Force is extremely addictive: every time one calls on its power, one becomes more and more attached to it. Darth Vader desired to use this to his advantage during his time trying to turn his son, Luke Skywalker, to the dark side. If he could convince the young Jedi hopeful to call on the dark side enough times, the boy would find it more difficult to resist in the future.

The Sith also believe that instead of living along side the Force, one must master it and use it as a tool.

Overall, dark side relationships and organizations are inherently unstable. For instance, the pupil-master relationship of the Jedi is perverted under the Sith, as both the apprentice and the master naturally plot against one other, and one will eventually kill the other. Every time a dark side Force has risen in the galaxy, it has collapsed from within due to its own unstable nature. The Empire is no exception. When Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader discovered that Luke Skywalker was Vader's son, both wanted to turn Luke to the dark side. Vader wanted his son to help him kill Palpatine and rule the galaxy together, but Palpatine wanted Luke to take Vader's place as his apprentice. This phenomenon is probably the closest one can come to suggesting that the dark side is in fact weaker than the light side, as it is likewise one way of arguing that evil is weaker than good in Abrahamic religions.

Darth Bane considered the Force to be finite, and thus best restricted (ideally) to the use of a single Sith Lord. After the Battle of Ruusan, he eliminated the practice of having vast numbers of Sith at the same time and concentrated the dark side of the Force into two individuals: a Sith Master and Apprentice. This tradition, or "rule of two," is still in practice with the current Sith Order, which underwent a small reformation by Dark Lady Lumiya after the deaths of Vader and Palpatine at Endor.

The Dark Lords Sidious, Vader, and Tyranus had each trained some followers with dark side abilities, but none of these followers were given Sith rites, thus The Rule Of Two was essentially kept in effect during the era of Darth Sidious.

Delving into Darkness
The dark side is one aspect of a mysterious energy field some call the Force. Aggression, fear, and anger fuel the dark side and are, in turn, fueled by it. The dark side offers great power to those who can hear its seductive call, but the price is high. To understand the dark side, we must first understand the Force. When the balance tips too far in either direction, conflict usually results. And in conflict, the dark side flourishes. Force-users
of all light side traditions are warned from the very beginning of their training, in what-ever terms they can comprehend, to beware the dark side. To give in to fear, to embrace anger, to relish aggression: These are the first steps on the dark path. The dark side dominates the destiny of any who follow it. It's easy to start down that path and exceedingly hard to step off it. Fear leads to the dark side of the Force. When a person gives in to fear, he opens himself to anger. He directs anger at himself for being afraid and then unleashes it at the world around him as a way to mask his fear. The
anger leads to hatred as the dark emotions grow more powerful and destructive. Hatred, full of hostility and animosity, sets the stage for suffering-the eventual destination of the dark path. Any Force-sensitive being risks far more than suffering when delving into the dark side. More to the point, a
Force-user who draws upon the dark side risks corruption and terrible loss in return for the shortcut to power that the dark path provides. Faster and easier, the dark side is quick to give of itself, but asks a terrible price in return. No matter how well a Force-user is trained, no matter how steeped in the techniques of the light, the temptation to draw on the fast and easy power of the dark side always exists.
And that's only the beginning of the danger.

Comments? additions? expansions?

Unlike the Light Side of the Force, which embraces the whole, the entire focus of the Dark Side is the self. The appeal of the Dark Side is its very destructiveness and its isolation. Those who seek power for selfish reasons find comfort in its narcissistic gaze. The Dark Side emphasizes aggrandizement of self to the exclusion of others. In this way, rage and anger are turned into sources of strength.

Many are attracted to the Dark Side because its selfish nature allows great and showy deeds. The ease with which power is summoned belies its danger, for anger and hatred consume the individual even as one dominates one's surroundings. Ultimately, the Dark Side rejects the very celestial nature of life itself. To the Jedi, the Force is not a part of their existence; it is their existence. To a student of the Dark Side, this is incomprehensible.

It is not uncommon for Dark Side students to go into harms way, much as their Light Side counterparts do. There, in isolation, a Dark Side follower can perfect his or her own oneness with the Dark Side, and revel in that corruption. Yet in the Dark Side are anger and hatred and isolation and...fear. That fear drives the Jedi to isolation, jealousy and desire to be the most powerful of all.

This very predatory nature sparks the desire of dominance. Sometimes these are violent confrontations, other times they involve subtle mind games or diplomatic discussions; but make no mistake, there will be some attempt to assert control over each other. The violent nature of the Dark Side often leads to betrayal and pain.

Not only does this fratricidal tendency discourage long term cooperation among Adepts, it has also hindered the passing of knowledge. Whereas the Jedi and other servants of the Light Side have established great libraries and oral traditions to advance their work and educate succeeding generations, those of the Dark Side have few such institutions. Many never record their knowledge for fear it may aid an enemy. Others are too arrogant to allow others to learn from their mistakes.

Those are wise words, but is almost impossible a peacefull relationship between all this power thirsty individuals.
Let us try to make the best we can.

Darth Sidious

yes, but what you have to remember with me is when im involved in a discussion of any kind relating to the dark side or the sith, my first thought on the subject is the SW varietiies of both. Sorry if that was a little unclear

Empress Palpatine

Is this how Sith see themselves and their relationship to the Dark Side, or is this how Jedi see them?

Darth Sidious
12-18-2005, 15:45
Most of it would be the way the jedi see them. unfortunately there isnt much information available as to how the sith view it

Perhaps given enough time, we all could come up with our own unique blend of new Sith stuff. The trick is finding the time.

Azazel
12-19-2005, 15:00
That should be one of our main points of focus.
We, as sith, should try and make our hown personal way of view the force.
It would be even better if we could do it in a organized way, but respecting the diferences.

that would be great, although problematic, but its something i would definately stand in support of, whether i had the time to participate myself or not.

I propose the following.
each of us could start describing personal experiences relating ther dark side.
in this way we could maintain the individuality, and the diferences.
in the "end" (lets call it like that when noone else has something to add), we could make a pool, were all participant siths could give a "pontuation" to the things we find more representative of our way of feeling the force.
It can be a bit complicated, but this is a civilized forum, with a iron hand moderator.
we must all participate in it.
who will make the first addition ?

Darth Sidious
12-21-2005, 21:32
Again, yes, and i hope everyone participates in this in some way.
How about Azazel starting off?

Azazel
12-22-2005, 12:19
Why not...
well, this is going to be a long post...
as i told before, i have been seen Lord Vader as a icon since i was young.
bla bla bla, and one day, after reviewing empire strikes back, and in a partiiculary bad moment on my life, and after trying the light side of things, and seeing that it didnt worked out, i trid the dark path.
and suddenly everything was great.
My emotions could run free and without boundaries.
It was the way i have been searching al my life.
I often imagine myself on a dark room, were i have to use all my senses and instincts to guide me, not just plain vision.
i feel that the dark side brings me a more harmonical way of beeing, because touching the evil inside us brings us closer to the reality of life, because all men, even if they say otherwise, are evil, its in our nature.
The dark makes us stronger
Bind us to the power of the universe.

And you ... ?

Darth Sidious
12-22-2005, 23:04
Right at the minute i cant think of an example, its like my mind just went blank on this subject :? its annoying me, but your example is, well, very interesting, to say the least

Mrs. Darth Vader

First of all I disagree with that Jedi view of the dark side that was posted first. No insult my Master Sidious, since it came from the jedi any way. I see the dark side and the light side of the Force as working in tandum since the dark and the light is united at the top (in heavan so to speak ).
The dark side of the Force is the Judgement arm of the force and there for the most powerful. In this view a dark sider can be as humble as any Jedi because the Sith obey the will of the Force and commune with it. The kind of Sith I am is I get to know the Force socially so to speak.
I once was a light sider fallowing the ways of Qui-Gon (Jesus). I did the whole christain thing praying for people, had the gift of healing. Then that evil Reagan came along and ruiened christanity forever. God only favers the rich in the reagan doctrine.
I then left the church because I was then too Jedi (in this case christain for them ) I then get involved in leftist politics. As I saw the lowness that people would go I got more and more sinical as people proved beyond a shadow of doubt that they are devoid of natural effection, selfish and mean spirited, I came to the conclusion that people must be ruled with a whip and a chair. You need a big government to force them to stop devouring one another. The Force itself is going into judgement mode because people in their greed and desire to snuff out all light and thus cause planetary unbalance and destroy the planet. When the earth is mars devoid of life it will be humans who caused it. The Force is retaliateing. Remember the Tsunami, well the Force told all the animals to get out in time spearing them since the animals are free of guilt. The animals are innocent. Only people died in that Tsunami.
When the Force comes in the form of Palpatine to bring the balance (equal distrabutionism ) these greedy creeps will complain alot. But when The Force sends Darth Vader ( Shiva the destroyer, the arch angel of death ) to kill as a Judgement then all will fear him. Today the ***** of Babbalone is partying and is drunk with victory, but tommorow she will weap and morn. Even Star Wars shows this in the exicution of order 66 and the killing of the trade federation on Mustafar.
When Vader gets the Helmet (The full armer of The Force,God, ) Darth vader is invinceable, esoterically speaking. So like the Force itself I switched to the dark side because it is time for judgement, Day of Crow, in American Indian.
Sorry I wrote a book but got too long winded. I love my husband Darth Vader so I talk a lot about him.

I am in no way insulted :)

It was simply the only one i could find, and i dont feel that i could explain it myself so i used what i could find. If anyone wants to explain it / redo it entirely then feel free

Unfortunately I don't have a big long statement. I studded the light side, and the dark side. and for a wile I did the light side thing( christian) but as to agree with the empress, after a wile I saw what they really were, and left.
After that I studied more darker stuff, and felt more at home. I am a very emotional person at times so it seamed to mesh well.
Then I started to look up stuff more and I decided to see if there was a way to try and use both sides of the force, light and dark. Everything is made up of both, and id figured instead of closing part of myself off I took all of it in.

hope that helps

Well, im demolished, Mrs Vader.
Firstly because of your wondelful use of metaphores and the relations of various cultural examples.
Secondly, by putting Reagan into the business, because, to my point of view, its impossible to a politician to destroy a 2000 year old religion, that is far more powerfull than any particular nation. But its a valid point, i guess...
I trully believe that this post will be most helpfull in helping to make a statement on the force of the dark side.

Thank you Azazel. I am glad you saw my point. I am sure the Emperor is pleased. My husband Darth Vader is.

On the subject of Creating A Sith Doctrine....

It is with great respect to your community that suggest the following:

"Who Gives A Crap!"

Take what has been provided to you and create a new way! That is why you are all here isn't? To learn the ways of the Sith and the Dark Side of the Force. But I suspect it is more about learning a........"Shadow" Side of the Force for I feel there aren't any murders, sicko's and killers on this board. (I hope!)

I was watching the interviews on the other Disk of EPIII and G.L. said straight out that "Darth Sidious" (The Character) Is the Devil. That is actually word for word. The Sith ancient Sith were EVIL. But you guys are not. (Again...jumping to HUGE persumptions over here.)

The Force through the Sith teachings of giving in and embracing your strength, emotions and passions, let me ask you? What's wrong with that? NOTHING! Absolutely nothing if you want the truth...see in the real world, I train my Jedi to acknowledge their, fear, anger, agression, passion, emotion and strength but instead of unleashing it.....channel it. The ancient Jedi failed here, trying to control human emotions is like trying to keep a puppy from pissing on the carpet.....stuffs gonna happen! It is dealing with the emotions a Jedi strives to balance where as you Sith just through caution to the wind.

I say screw it and build your own way, but you must pay hommage to the those that came before you...the teachings and the ideology. Every faith or spirtual way in order for it work needs a frame of reference, a visual if you will. If you do this...you will be fine and I encourage you!

I personally think it would be cool to start our owne sith doctrine. Could open up a lot of options. Might get more activity and new members. Alwasy a bonus for the dark side to grow stronger.

Maybe we can all pitch in and help pay for the advertising.
Or we can start with what we have, get a foundation, and work from there.

Very well, Im demolished.
Firstly because its a Jedi that comes into a sith forum and starts to shoot around, when it is suposed to be the sith doing that on the jedi forum, but, looks like the "evil wanna be" guys are somewhat respectfull...But nevermind.
About Darth Sidious beeing the "Devil", well, even if he is, that makes
Yoda "God" ? Dont think so.
And even if he was, God is the mirrowed image of the Devil, and, like the force, one cannot exist without the other.
About beeing evil, no human can be real evil, and if there were any maniacs in this forum, they would have much better things to do than beeing here reading people“s ideas...
And if you knew what Azazel is, maybe you would change your ideas about some things...
Creating a new doctrine is never a easy task, but we are all here ready and willing to pass our ideas to the world, even if we have to start from scratch.
I speak for myself, at least, dunno the others opinion on that.
And, if, on the even we can steal some jedi“s to our side.

As for the Money issues, well, im just waiting for my visa card to arrive to donate something to help and pay the bill ( altough i still think the admin just should take out his red bladed saber and slice the isp in half and finish the subject...)

Lol. the advertising is by far the most expensive part of all this.
the last month i used it, it cost £185.85 (roughly $327 US). As it stands, paid advertising is out for a while, its just too expensive for me to consider it a viable option at present.
For the minute im having to rely on SEO techniques, but the problem there is it takes a long time to do those, and even longer to notice any results. (est. 3 - 6 months, best case).

For now im going to stick with the free side of advertising, despite the time-consuming aspects. Its going to be extremely slow work, but it should, hopefully prove to be worthwhile.

Best thing the rest of you guys can do here is recommend the site to people you know who have an interest in this stuff, advertise it on other sites of similar content/interest (as long as it isnt against their TOS), etc..

As you said, for now were going to have to work with what we have available
